HOW OUR LEARNING IS ORGANISED

We are well aware of the fact that you are your child's first teacher and we will do all we can to help you. That is why, on joining the E.Y.E. Day Nursery, we glean as much information about your child from you as possible. It helps us slot in to the child's learning experience to date and gives us understanding of what we need to provide to take him/her on. This confidential information goes in our records for your child. The E.Y.E. Day Nursery uses the same long-term plan as the LEA's Nursery on site. Each term the learning is based on a topic - e.g. Toys, Rhymes, My World.

At the beginning of each term, the Nursery Team work together and from the plan determine generally what will be covered each week to give your child a broad, balanced programme. Particular plans are made as term goes on each week. Daily plans may be used for individual children according to need.

The staff set up the rooms and outdoor areas so that there are lots of areas of learning to provide a rich environment to interest and involve children of all stages. Staff understand what it is they want your child to learn. They plan how they will interact with your child in the learning to help him/her progress to the next step.

Staff observe your child and note their findings on individual Record Sheets. Staff have worked out realistic expectations for each stage of your child's development and these culminate in the Early Learning Goals recommended nationally for nurseries.

You may see these Record Sheets at any time, but each year we will arrange to meet you to share your child's achievements and attainments. You will be able to chat to staff about your child's progress. The Record Sheets can go with your child to the next stage of education. If your child is perceived to have any problem in his/her learning development we will always inform you and give support.
